Entrepreneurship is a long and often lonely road. Happiness, success, money, inequality... Whatever it is that DRIVES YOU to be on that road; find it, embrace it.

Today we officially kick-started the New Ventures Studio 8 week Entrepreneurial Course with the enthusiastic and contagiously energetic Vicky Coates, a corporate, community and lifestyle coach. The full day workshop was the first part in her series of presentations on Transformer Leadership.

Right off the bat, our participants were made to step out of their "Comfort Zone" and into their "Stretch Zone" by individually describing (in front of the class) the way they felt using a single word. "Excited. Positive. Anxious. Amped. Ready. Still..." were just a few selected to capture the moment.

The next question, a little trickier, "What drives you?"

"Balance. Fear. Suffering. Perfection. Money..." Our 21 participants were getting stuck in.

Vicky then led us into the main theme for the day with another question, "What is responsibilty?"

A sense of ownership? Discipline? Focus? Honesty? Mindfulness?

The answer? IT'S A CHOICE!

As human beings there are only two places from which we can choose to live our lives. We are either part of the solution or part of the problem.

Either we are the victim of our circumstances and are affected by our situations or we can live our lives from the victorious standpoint and be the cause of a different experience.

As aspiring Enterpreneurs, the choice is an obvious one. I leave you with a quote from Victor Frankl, renowned psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor:

"It did not matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected of us."

NOTES FROM THE DAY:

5 Leadership Disciplines - Taking responsibility

1. Live from the frame of possibility that YOU ARE 100% RESPONSIBLE for your attitude in any given circumstance.

2. Take a keen interest in the POWER OF YOUR WORD TO CREATE.

3. Practice the art of taking "RIGHT ACTION" based in YOUR DEEPEST SENSE OF HONESTY AND THE GREATER GOOD.

4. Take the stance of "A RIGHT CAUSE EQUALS A RIGHT EFFECT."

5. Practice living in the "POWER OF NOW" and get beyond wishing for better days.
